Belle Regalo supports Ikageng Itireleng by contributing a portion of our profits to this valuable ministry.

Ikageng Itireleng AIDS Ministry is dedicated to the needs of those children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Ikageng Itireleng wishes to provide support, mentoring, life skills and counseling to help assist AIDS-related Child-Headed Households (CHH) in Soweto as well as to improve the quality of life for orphaned and other vulnerable children affected by HIV/AIDS on a sustainable basis. All South African children deserve a fair and decent chance at a better life.

Their objective is not to have their actions measured by money alone but in the effectiveness, sustainability and scope of the help they provide and in the enduring love and fulfillment received by these children.

How Ikageng Itereleng works

The Ikageng organisation is a registered NGO (number 024-016) and maintains a structured approach in its regulation and performance. Ikageng Itireleng's aim is to help develop orphans into educated, employable adults and contributors to society. Ikageng Itireleng depends solely on the donations and sponsorships from individuals, the community and corporations. Work is performed through the time and effort donated by the wider community.

In support of these objectives:

  • Provide for the basic needs of Child Headed Households (CHH). Such needs including food, clothing, water, electricity, school fees and supplies, healthcare and transport.
  • Provide mentoring, support, life skills and councelling to CHHs through a network of voluntary caregivers and professional supporters.
  • Holistic development of children through the organisation and facilitation of various social events.
  • Raising funds and donations in kind to help meet basic needs
  • Provide love and care

The Guiding Pricinciples at Ikageng Itereleng

Ikageng Itireleng hopes to achieve its goals and objectives through everyday actions that are bold, challenging and charitable. Ikageng Itireleng is committed to help ensure a secure and supportive environment for the children. The principles that Ikageng maintain on a day-to-day basis include:

Accountability – to take responsibility for the actions we promise to perform within the community towards the children

Achievement – to aspire to deliver, to our best ability, on expectations of the children and funders

Challenge – to know the boundaries that limit us and to try and contest these limitations

Commitment – to keep our promises. These children need constant support and someone who is not going to give up!

Community – donation of time and resources to the children, through the building and maintaining of key relationships, through the strength and support of the community

Boldness – taking risks on children who need a second chance, encouraging growth and achievement

Love – the grounding upon which Ikageng performs all its functions

Culture – embrace individual backgrounds to accommodate all ethnicities. To ensure a strong sense of individuality and belonging

Balance – adopt a fair, well-rounded approach assisting every specific and individual need

Endurance – to ensure a consistent and reliable base for the children to depend on through providing an effective and sustainable structure

Strength – as a character shown by both the care-givers and the children to provide faith in their future and in the actions performed by Ikageng Itireleng

Why we support this group?

A personal message from Kim Vermaak

Yes, charing for Aids orphans make sense for the country, but there is more to it than just that.

You may not be in need right now and so perhaps caring for others is just something that you may feel lead to do, but in everyone’s life there comes a time when we are faced with challenges that seem greater than what we can manage. Be it a death of someone dear, a retrenchment, illness, spiritual isolation, loneliness, financial lack, or whatever your personal burden will be. When this happens it is good to know that there is someone that you can count on.

At one point when I was pregnant with the father sprinting in the opposite direction, no medical aid, no savings and just enormous debt, my life was in a shambles and I was quite frankly terrified. A wonderful couple whom I met at my church helped me. They paid my medical expenses, they clothed and fed my child and paid for child care while my business and my baby were both infants. Without them my dream would not have been able to take flight. Belle Regalo’s support of charity is our “thank you” to our own angels and to our Lord that sent them our way. This support was the bridge that took me from losing all my dreams to realizing my dream and moving into a marriage with a wonderful man and having an exciting and family vibrant life.

Supporting causes like Ikageng Itireleng helps children who have lost parents to Aids and have also been abandoned by family due to stigma of Aids realize their potential. In essence by helping these children you are building their bridges to their future.

Some food for thought from the Christian Bible for those who are interested:

For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.' Then they will answer and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?' He will answer them, 'Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.'
